The Family of William Beach and Mary Ann Dowland

William Beach b. 31 December 1843. He married twice:
1. Mary Ann Dowland, b. 12 March 1846; d. 29 January 1872. They married on 3 April 1865 at The Surrey Tabernacle, Wansey Street, Bermondsey, Surrey. This was a Strict Baptist Chapel. They had 4 children:
a. William George Beach, b. 18 March 1866; m. (1) Elizabeth Falkner, 23 February 1889; (2) Elizabeth Annie Edwards, 29 August 1900.
b. Edith Mary Beach, b. 2 December 1867.
c. Annie Louisa Beach, b. 8 January 1870; m. Frederick Reginald Stockwell 13 March 1903; d. 18 January 1941.
d. Rose Martha Beach, b. 5 February 1871; d. 28 November 1871.
2. Sophia Harris, b. 4 January 1838; d. 6 November 1910. They married on 11 February 1874 at The Hanover Chapel, Tonbridge, Kent.
William died on 26 February 1910.
William Beach was the son of John Beach (1815 – 1884) and Elizabeth Ierson (1816 – 1882). John and Elizabeth had 8 children.
Mary Ann Dowland was the daughter of George Dowland (1804 – 1862) and Hannah Atwood (1812 - 1890). She was born in Ramsgate, Kent where her father was a Stone Mason employed in the extension of Ramsgate Pier. George and Hannah had 3 children (George also had 2 children with his first wife, Caroline Adworth).
Sophia Harris was the daughter of Robert Harris (1815 – 1882) and Hannah Peacock (1816 – 1886). Robert and Hannah had 9 children.
William entered the Leather business started by his father. They had works in Southwark, Surrey and in Chelmsford, Essex. William was mainly responsible for the works in Southwark, while his cousin looked after the business in Chelmsford.
