The Family of Charles Frederick Oliver and Sarah Ann Steel
Charles Frederick Oliver, b. January 1825 at Westminster, Middlesex.
He married Sarah Ann Steel (b. March 1837; d. 7 February 1897 at 124 Toronto Road, Buckland, Portsea, Hampshire) on 3 June 1863 at St Mary’s Parish Church, Portsea, Hampshire. They had 5 children:
a. Emily Sarah Oliver, b. 1864 at Portsmouth, Hampshire.
b. Annie Lucy Oliver, b. 14 June 1868 at 206 Lake Road, Landport, Portsmouth, Hampshire; m. David Frederick Bennett at Portsea, Hampshire on 23 January 1886; d. 17 December 1960 at Shieldhall Hospital, Glasgow.
c. Alice Maud Oliver, b. 1870 at Portsmouth, Hampshire; she married
d. Charles Frederick Oliver, b. 1872 at West Hartlepool.
e. Maud Kate Oliver, b. 1876 at Portsmouth, Hampshire
Charles died on 21 August 1895 at 114 Guildford Road, Kingston, Portsmouth, Hampshire.
Charles Oliver was the son of Thomas Oliver and Elizabeth Hannh Batty.
Sarah Steel was the daughter of John Steel (1803 – c 1868) and Mary Ann Willmott (1802 – c 1872). Alfred and Mary had 9 children. John Steel was born in Westbourne, Sussex. Mary Ann Willmott was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
Charles was in the Royal Navy. He was a Gunner on HMS Duncan and later a Chief Gunner on HMS Excellent.
