David Frederick Bennett, b. 17 October 1856. He married:
Annie Lucy Oliver (b. 14 June 1868; d. 17 December 1960). They married on 23 January 1886 in Portsea, Hampshire. They had 11 children (all born in Glasgow):

c. Cordelia Bennett, b. 1 December 1891.
d. Charles Oliver Bennett, b. 10 January 1894; m. Agnes Oliver on 1 January 1915.

f. James Oliver Bennett, b. 3 July 1896.
g. John Richard Bennett, b. 13 March 1899; m. Margaret Hill Robertson on 7 January 1921.
h. Edward Bennett, b. 27 August 1902.
i. Alice Margaret Bennett, b. 26 September 1904.
j. Annie Oliver Bennett, b. 18 February 1908; m. William Bruce Dick on 26 December 1936; d. 29 May 1997.
k. May Margaret Bennett, b. 14 May 1910.
David Bennett was the son of John Bennet (1831 – 1880) and Margaret Young (1834 – 1907). He was born at 16 Stirling Street, Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire. He served in the Royal Engineers, during which time he was posted to the Naval Gunnery School at Portsmouth. It was here that he met Annie. He left military service almost at once as their first child was born 20 months later in Glasgow.
He died in Victoria Infirmary, Glasgow on 24 August 1933.
Annie Oliver was the daughter of Charles Frederick Oliver (1825 – 1890) and Sarah Anne Steel (1837 – 1907). She was born at 206 Lake Road, Landport, Portsmouth. Charles and Sarah had 5 children. She died on 17 December 1960 in Shieldhall Hospital, Glasgow.
